We present a theoretical manuscript exploring possible information-theoretic interpretations of respiratory brainstem circuitry, failing to present new experimental data, but steading to the preference of the same a synthesis of existing literature on respiratory neurophysiology and computational neuroscience proposing conceptual models describing information flow, transformation, and hierarchical organization in the respiratory neuraxis, where the framework remains inherently speculative and intended to generate hypotheses for future study.
