In 1924, in The General Theory of Law and Marxism, Evgeny Pashukanis introduced the concept of legal fetishism as the juridical complement to Marx’s concept of commodity fetishism. Despite its theoretical potential, the concept has received relatively little development in the literature. Although many authors have noted its usefulness, few have attempted to elaborate it systematically.
