The article analyzes the strategy of the European Union (EU) in the Indo-Pacific region (IPR). The author pays attention to the analysis of the conjugation of supranational EU institutions and the foreign policy priorities of individual member states. The main goal of the study is to identify the contradictions and prospects for implementing a single EU strategy in the context of the diversity of interests of the member states, in particular, significant differences in the approaches of key European actors, such as France, Germany and the countries of Eastern Europe. Particular attention is paid to the comparison of the geographical and conceptual approaches of the European countries. The author considers the evolution of the EU strategic vision in the IPR, starting from the first documents of the 1990s to the modern comprehensive strategy of 2021, and also analyzes the influence of external factors – US policy, the growing role of China and the positions of regional actors. A comprehensive analysis of EU strategic documents and national priorities is carried out, which allows us to assess the degree of coherence of the EU's actions in the region. The author argues for the limited capabilities of the EU in the region due to internal disagreements, dependence on the transatlantic partnership and the lack of a single goal-setting in the region. The author emphasizes that, despite the ambitions of «strategic autonomy», the EU remains a secondary player in the IPR, focused primarily on issues of economic and humanitarian cooperation
