The problem of combating drug addiction and its associated negative consequences is extremely acute all over the world, including in Russia. The State, with the help of various bodies, institutions and organizations (state, municipal, medical, social, law enforcement, public), carries out continuous activities to combat drug addiction and its consequences, including crime, which in many cases is a consequence of drug addiction. Taking into account the analysis of statistical data, current legislation, and scientific literature, the article examines the modern criminal and penal enforcement policy of the Russian Federation in this area. The purpose of the article is to analyze the general criminal policy in relation to people with drug addiction, as well as to identify a number of problems that arise in the process of execution and serving sentences among convicts with drug addiction. Various general scientific methods were used in the preparation of the article: historical-legal, comparative-legal, system-logical analysis. The object of the study was individuals, including convicts, drug addicts, as well as regulatory legal acts regulating this area.
