This study evaluates the effectiveness of how Kahoot! in conjunction with Zoom enhances student engagement, motivation, enjoyment, and learning outcomes. It also identifies technical challenges and offers solutions for educators in EFL contexts. The study took place over the period of one year, covering two semesters at a private Korean university where EFL classes were conducted using Zoom during the COVID-19 lockdowns. A self-report questionnaire was administered to 164 Korean university student participants using Likert-type scales to assess their perceptions of criteria, including the effectiveness on learning vocabulary and grammar, impact on motivation and enjoyment, and whether or not Kahoot! was better for reviewing course material than a traditional in-book review unit. A section was also included for comments which was later coded and analyzed. The results found that Kahoot! was perceived positively in regards to enjoyment, motivation, and educational value; however, there were some problems related to technical issues and competitiveness.
