Hazing on college campuses continues to be a problem, particularly for groups associated with fraternity and sorority life and athletics. In 2025, at least one fatal incident of hazing occurred, including one that resulted in the death of Southern University student Caleb Wilson. And the Hazing Death Database , which has tracked incidents in the United States since 1838, reveals an average of five deaths per year due to hazing since 2000.
