This study investigates the transformative influence of women’s literacy on the socio-economicadvancement of Bihar, elucidating both the obstacles encountered and the achievements realized.Notwithstanding considerable progress, Bihar remains confronted with pronounced genderinequalities in education, as evidenced by rural female literacy rates that stand at 49.6%, in starkcontrast to 72.6% in urban regions. Governmental initiatives such as Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, BetiBachao Beti Padhao, and Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana have played a significant role inenhancing enrolment figures and diminishing dropout rates. Nevertheless, a mere 28.8% of womenattain ten or more years of education, thereby constraining their economic engagement. Theinvestigation assesses the socio-economic advantages associated with women’s education,encompassing enhanced health outcomes, economic empowerment, and the alleviation ofintergenerational poverty. It advocates for targeted policy measures to confront systemic impedimentsand expedite inclusive growth in Bihar. By amalgamating qualitative and quantitative perspectives,this research highlights the pivotal importance of women’s literacy in promoting equitabledevelopment and dismantling socio-economic barriers within Bihar. The primary aim of this researchEndeavor is to scrutinize the ramifications of women’s literacy on the socio-economic advancementof Bihar, with a particular emphasis on the obstacles and accomplishments within the realm offemale education. The study aspires to: I) examine the present literacy status of women in Bihar’srural and urban districts. Evaluate the success of government programs meant to raise the literacyrates of women; ii) analyse the socioeconomic advantages of greater education for women, such asimproved health, economic empowerment, and poverty reduction and iii) determine the structuralobstacles preventing women from obtaining an education and suggest focused legislative changesto encourage inclusive development.
