ABSTRACT Corneal thickness changes were measured after batbing the outer corneal surface with sodium chloride solutions of various concentrations. Bathing was accomplished by total immersion in the solution in a goggle or by the application of drops for a period of 20 minutes. A nearly linear relationship was found between bypotonicity and the degree of corneal swelling.
