Demonstrates changes in corneal thickness in response to sodium chloride solutions, indicating potential effects on ocular health.
Corneal thickness changes were measured after batbing the outer corneal surface with sodium chloride solutions of various concentrations. Bathing was accomplished by total immersion in the solution in a goggle or by the application of drops for a period of 20 minutes. A nearly linear relationship was found between bypotonicity and the degree of corneal swelling.
