Modern education tends to break the age old rigid boundaries of discipline or streams of knowledge. The emphasis of contemporary education is holistic and integrated learning. However, the outward integration of various subjects is lacking in philosophical foundation. This article explores Integral Education as propounded by Sri Aurobindo and focuses on multi disciplinary approach. The core belief of Integral Education is synchronous development of all the aspects of life-physical, psychological, spiritual etc. This article undertakes to delve into the root of Integral education as the seed of the present day inclination towards multi disciplinary curriculum design. This paper discusses the similarity of approach in terms of learner-centredness, unity of knowledge, and holistic development. However, integral education goes beyond the disciplinary integration and situates curriculum within a broader metaphysical and ethical vision with an eye on the evolution of consciousness. Integral education is not just about integration of various subjects, it's about the alignment between the learning and what the learners become. This article posits that integration of the principles of Integral education into multi disciplinary framework is capable of reforming the curriculum, focusing more on true inner growth than on intellectual skill. Modern pursuit for educational reforms can culminate in this synthesis, offering culturally rooted and philosophically sound foundation for shaping curriculum of this complex modern life.
