This work presents the aerosol typing capabilities of a compact, dual-wavelength lidar, CE376, as complementary observation system to reference high-power, Raman lidars. Comparison against a reference Raman lidar is shown for a dust case and a dust-smoke mixture, as well as results from a mobile campaign, FIREX-AQ, near smoke sources, to demonstrate the capabilities of such compact lidar for continuous observations and for mobile measurements.
