It is said that if king is corrupt then there will anarchy. So, it is true here. Here anarchy is of vices. It was reaction against morality and discipline of last age. Restoration literature 's works are full of realism, satire, wit and humor and vices. Some characters are example of false wit and stupidity. Comedy of manners are influenced by French dramatist Moliere and subject matters are narrow. With love and marriage selfishness and intrigues are attached. Although Congreve 's manners is free from bitterness and harsh criticism. He just wants to show reality. In this paper there is presentation of that age 's conditions from critical point of view and some new interpretation about play.
