Mathematical derivation identifying the missing unified force. E8 has 248 dimensions: 240 roots (all Standard Model force carriers) and 8 Cartan subalgebra dimensions (neutral geometric binding). The 8 Cartan dimensions are the zeroth force — the geometric tension holding 240 force-carrying roots in fixed angular relationships. This force has no particle carrier because it IS the geometry within which particles exist. Gravity cannot be quantized because gravity is not one of the 240 roots — gravity IS the Cartan tension acting on 4D spacetime. This resolves the unification problem.
