Surgical treatment options for lymphedema consist of non-physiologic and physiologic surgeries. Along with evolution of supermicrosurgery, physiologic surgeries including lymphovenous bypass and vascularized lymph node transfer become popular among both patients and surgeons. In addition, immediate lymphovenous bypass after lymph node dissection also have demonstrated its preventive effect for lymphedema. Combination of complex decongestive physical therapy and physiologic surgery with proper patient selection may result in further improvement in both early and advanced stage lymphedema.
