This presentation was given during the WiNoDa winter school, a five-day intensive course on the topic of Research with Natural Science Collections. Data, Quality, and Methods from 24-28 November 2025. Organization: German Federation for Biological Data e.V. (GFBio) with support from the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN), German Archaeological Institute (DAI), Vernetzungs- und Kompetenzstelle Open Access Brandenburg (VuK). The Galaxy Project (https://galaxyproject.org/) is an open, web-based platform designed to make complex data analysis accessible, transparent, and reproducible – without the need for programming skills. Originally developed for bioinformatics, Galaxy has grown into a powerful tool for researchers across disciplines who work with quantitative data. This introductory workshop offers a guided overview of the platform, highlighting its intuitive interface and wide range of analysis tools. You will start your first analysis with Galaxy using the classic Iris dataset and learn how to save time and make your work reproducible by using dataset collections and histories.
