Alder Archaeology Ltd were commissioned to excavate 5 evaluation trenches excavated on the site of a proposed new private dwelling at Scroggiehill, Almondbank, Perth & Kinross. The evaluation was devised to sample 10% of the proposed site area (197m2), and to establish the presence/absence, date, character, and quality of any previously unrecorded archaeological remains associated with the site. The evaluation trenches found only limited root disturbance and a large deposit of modern debris and natural stones levelling the SE corner of the site. Which overlaid dark brown sandy loam topsoil and orange/brown natural sandy loam with glacial sandstone pebbles and cobbles. No artefacts were recovered. The trenches were recorded, EDM surveyed and backfilled. The watching brief took place between 31st January and 1st February 2023 and was commissioned by Ecological Architecture on behalf of the landowners.
