The ipso-halogenation of arylsilanes offers an attractive approach to access unconventional and synthetically challenging substitution patterns beyond the substrate-dependent regioselectivity of conventional electrophilic halogenation. We demonstrate the desilylative halogenation of arylsilanes using the Carborane-SMe catalyst. The method can be applied to electron-deficient substrates and robust silyl groups, and the mild conditions provide notable functional-group tolerance.
