Genome assembly reveals 12,272 protein-coding genes in Baccha elongata, indicating its genetic complexity.
<ns7:p>We present a genome assembly from a female <ns7:italic>Baccha elongata</ns7:italic> specimen (gossamer hoverfly; Arthropoda; Insecta; Diptera; Syrphidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 607.97 megabases. Most of the assembly (73.99%) is scaffolded into 3 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 16.59 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 12 272 protein-coding genes.</ns7:p>
