Review highlights the synergistic benefits of curcumin and hyaluronic acid in wound healing, suggesting novel formulation strategies.
Wound healing is a complex physiological process involving hemostasis, inflammation, proliferation, and tissue remodeling. The development of bioactive wound dressings has attracted considerable interest in recent years. Curcumin, a polyphenolic compound with potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, and Hyaluronic Acid (HA), a naturally occurring polysaccharide essential for tissue repair, have individually demonstrated efficacy in wound healing. This review explores the potential of combining these two bioactive agents in a hydrogel formulation, highlighting their synergistic benefits, formulation strategies, mechanisms of action, and challenges in clinical translation.
