This method demonstrates successful synthesis of β-carbolin-1-ones from 3-amino-2-pyridones, suggesting potential for antidiabetic applications.
A method for the synthesis of multi‐substituted β‐carbolin‐1‐ones is developed, utilizing iridium‐catalyzed intramolecular C─H/N─H amination of 3‐amino‐2‐pyridones synthesized via the conjugate addition of diethyl 2‐aminomalonate to alkynyl imines. This synthetic strategy was successfully applied to the formal synthesis of an antidiabetic agent.
