Case report documents dysgerminoma-associated hypercalcemia in a child, suggesting unique treatment strategies.
Humoral Hypercalcemia of Malignancy (HHM) is commonly associated with adult cancers, including small cell carcinoma of the ovary and clear cell carcinoma of the ovary, and is rarely reported in pediatric malignancies. Here, we report a rare case of a 12-year-old girl with dysgerminoma with malignant hypercalcemia at diagnosis. She was managed with endocrinologist close monitoring with hydration. Oral steroid, calcitonin and Zoledronic acid. She showed a complete response on initiation of chemotherapy and underwent delayed excision after 4 cycles, unlike previously reported cases.
