This study validates the Avoidance-Endurance Questionnaire for fatigue in cancer patients, suggesting reliable measures for emotional and behavioral responses.
Objective: A number of studies supported the role of fear-avoidance (FAR) and endurance-related responses (ER) to fatigue in the maintenance of symptoms associated with chronic diseases. However, reliable and valid measures of fatigue-related FAR and ER are lacking. This study aimed to (1) inspect the psychometric properties of the Avoidance-Endurance-Fatigue Questionnaire (AEQ-F) and (2) investigate the convergent and criteria-related validity in a sample of patients with cancer.
