Palladium-catalyzed reactions produced cyclobutane structures from 1,4-diyn-3-yl carbonates and alkenes, indicating effective methodologies.
A palladium-catalyzed autotandem reaction between 1,4-diyn-3-yl carbonates and ortho-functionalized activated alkenes is presented, proceeding through a sequential allenylation, vinylogous addition, and intramolecular propargylation process. A broad array of fused and spirocyclic architectures that include a cyclobutane motif are straightforwardly constructed in moderate to good yields with high regio- and diastereoselectivity.
