Concept of regenerative strategic design (RSD) transforms degenerative practices in design, suggesting biocentric solutions to ecosystem issues.
This paper introduces the concept of Regenerative Strategic Design (RSD) as an innovative approach within the field of strategic design. The proposal shifts the dominant anthropocentric perspective to a biocentric one, promoting ecosystemic thinking and a regenerative culture. Grounded in the concepts of Buen Vivir, Ecofeminism, and Systems Thinking, RSD aims to transform degenerative practices into processes that respect and regenerate life. The paper presents twelve methodological principles of RSD, categorized into three dimensions: ontological, epistemological, and methodological. The principles guiding the methodological operation of regenerative strategic design are collaborative, solidaritybased, decolonial, fair sharing, equitable, diverse, inclusive, non-violent, relational, contextual, adaptive, and dynamic. By adhering to these methodological principles, RSD directs design actions so that projects contribute to the regeneration of ecosystems and the realization of sustainable futures.
