Development of assistive devices enhances upper limb mobility in elderly individuals, suggesting improved autonomy and rehabilitation.
Stroke is a neurological condition that can cause paralysis, motor and cognitive difficulties, impacting the independence of individuals. Handicrafts are an activity that provides greater benefits for the elderly, helping in social interaction and motor rehabilitation. This project developed assistive technology devices to assist an elderly volunteer who suffered a stroke, improving their autonomy and well-being in the practice of painting. Two products were created: an adapted paint opener and an adapted clipboard with supports for paints and brushes. The process included visits, needs assessment, digital modeling, 3D printing and laser cutting. The devices aim to facilitate the user's activities, creating independence and assisting in the rehabilitation of motor coordination.
