This analysis uncovers how amplification and tangent loss vary in a four-level atomic system, suggesting pathways for quantum applications.
This manuscript demonstrates the control and modification of the amplification and tangent loss in a four-level tripod-type atomic system via the probe and controlled field detunings, phase and controlled field Rabi frequencies. Amplification becomes minimum and maximum at resonance and off-resonance points of the control field E1, respectively, while it shows a contrast behavior at resonance and off-resonance points of the control field E2. We notice that at certain values of the Rabi frequencies, amplification is significant, however, by varying the Rabi frequencies it decreases and shifts to absorption. Furthermore, the tangent loss varies between zero and negative maximum via the variation of controlling parameters. Our findings may have potential applications in quantum memory elements, photonic circuits, nanophotonic amplifiers, quantum communication, super conducting circuits and nonlinear optical switches.
