Kinetic and thermodynamic analysis reveals adsorption of Congo red dye by magnetic ferrite nanoparticles, indicating Langmuir model preference.
The synthesis of ferrite nanoparticles (NPs) with a CuFe204 structure was accomplished via the auto-combustion method of sol-gel. Characterization of the nanomaterials was conducted utilizing Field emission-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) procedures. Investigation into the impact of contact duration, temperature, and pH on the CR dye's adsorption characteristics was undertaken. Optimal equilibrium was observed to be attained at a contact duration of 360 minutes within a pH range spanning from 3 to 11. A comparison between the Freundlich and Langmuir models showed a clear inclination of the adsorption data towards the Langmuir model. Thermodynamic assessment revealed a spontaneous nature of the process, with ΔG indicating spontaneity, ΔH denoting exothermicity, and ΔS exhibiting negative values indicative of reduced disorderliness and unpredictability in the adsorption phenomenon.
