Functional safety verification reduces risks in motor control systems of new energy vehicles, highlighting its significance in driver safety.
Motor control system, as a core subsystem in the power domain of new energy vehicles, faces the dual risk challenge of system failure and random hardware failure. Therefore, functional safety verification of the motor control system is of great significance to driver safety. Based on the framework of the ISO 26262 functional safety standard, this paper develops a comprehensive safety verification process for a motor control system by researching the functional safety test methods for motor control systems and conducting fault injection tests using a Power-level Hardware-in-the-Loop (P-HIL) semi-physical simulation platform. The experimental data show that the P-HIL system has the technical advantages of coverage of fault modes, high precision of working condition control, and high-test repeatability under the premise of ensuring the test safety, and it can provide a verification program with both test efficiency and operation safety for the functional safety compliance verification of motor control system.
