Literature review highlights the relationship between digital leadership and creative performance, suggesting future inquiry via the TCCM framework.
In today’s disruptive digital age, digital leadership plays a pivotal role in successfully transforming organizations by fostering a culture of creativity to ensure sustainable competitive advantage. This new realm of leadership is expanding, with very few studies focusing on the collective understanding of digital leadership and creative performance. The current study presents a systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis combined with text analysis using the Scopus database to draw an overarching picture of the extant literature and deploy the theory-context-characteristic-method (TCCM) framework to offer fresh insights into future research avenues. A review of 90 publications from 63 journals published between 2014 and 2024 underpins the current study. The newness and emerging nature of the topic are increasingly gaining attention across multiple fields, as indicated by publications from diverse journals and countries. The review presents the future research agenda across four themes pertinent to theory, context, characteristics and methodology, thus promising future research potential.
