Case report describes atypical cardiac tamponade symptoms, diagnosed with echocardiography and CT, suggesting diagnostic challenges.
A BSTRACT Cardiac tamponade is a well-recognized entity with a classical presentation of Beck’s Triad of hypotension, JVD, and muffled heart sounds. Cancer is the most common cause of pericardial effusion with cardiac tamponade. There are other causes of cardiac tamponade without pericardial effusion such as large pleural effusion, pneumopericardium. We report an interesting case of a cardiac tamponade which presented atypically and was diagnosed two-dimensional echocardiography and computed tomography scan of the chest and treated by intercostal tube drainage.
