Qualitative case study reveals challenges and strategies in teaching values education in Tacloban City, highlighting cultural relevance and peer support.
This qualitative multiple case study explored the experiences of Values Education teachers using Filipino as the medium of instruction in public junior high schools in Tacloban City. Guided by Constructivist Learning and Translanguaging theories, the study examined how teachers address linguistic and instructional challenges. Data from four purposively selected teachers were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using Colaizzi’s method. Three key themes emerged: enhanced student engagement through cultural relevance, barriers in training and resources, and the use of adaptive strategies and peer support.
