Novel approach amplifies circularly polarized light in halide perovskite, suggesting implications for spintronics and quantum applications.
Circularly polarized light source has broad application prospects in 3D display, information storage, spintronics, quantum computing, and anti‐counterfeiting. Currently, circularly polarized light is obtained by filtering at least half of photons using polarizer and quarter‐wave plates, which isn't an efficient process. One approach to address this issue is to develop light sources that directly emit circularly polarized light; however, emission states with different polarizations are nearly degenerate in chiral luminous materials, and therefore the emission polarization is low. Here, it is proposed to amplify the marginal difference in spin polarization through stimulated emission. Vertical cavity surface emitting lasers (VCSEL) are fabricated with Ma 2 Pb 3 Br 10 having chiral organic ligands, and achieved certain circular polarization output modes, which depends on the ligand's chirality. Furthermore, it is founded there is a synergistic enhancement in lasing polarization between the chirality of ligands and excitation polarization of laser light.
