This synthesis of NiCo-LDH@ZIF-67/CC enhances energy density in supercapacitors, suggesting improved device longevity.
The electrochemical performance of supercapacitors is largely influenced by the properties of electrode materials. To address the challenges of agglomeration and low intrinsic conductivity of layered double hydroxides (LDHs), a hierarchical NiCo-LDH@ZIF-67/CC electrode is synthesized using a two-step solvothermal approach. Firstly, NiCo-ZIF-67 was synthesized on the surface of carbon cloth (CC) with the hydrothermal method and then followed by the NiCo-LDH synthesis as the shell material. Benefiting from its hierarchical architecture, the NiCo-LDH@ZIF-67/CC electrode delivers a remarkable capacitance of 6363 mF/cm 2 at 1 mA/cm 2 . By pairing the NiCo-LDH@ZIF-67/CC cathode with an activated carbon (AC) anode in an asymmetric supercapacitor, the device achieves 314.67 mWh/cm 2 (energy density) and 1600 mW/cm 2 (power density), and retains 87% after 10,000 cycles at 15 A/g. The combination of a simple synthesis process and excellent electrochemical properties highlights the potential of NiCo-LDH@ZIF-67/CC for industrial applications.
