Investigating filler impact on erosion resistance in waterborne acrylic coatings, indicating potential for improved performance.
At present, the coating protection method has become the most widely used technology in the anti-corrosion engineering of steel structures. However, epoxy coatings and polyurethane coatings are easily decomposed by ultraviolet irradiation, which limits their application environment. Therefore, in this paper, waterborne acrylic emulsion was used as the main film-forming material, sericite was used as filler, and various additives were added to prepare waterborne acrylic coating. At the same time, the effect of filler on the performance of waterborne acrylic coating was investigated. It was found that the filler content was 30 % of the coating formula, which had good erosion resistance.
