Research optimizes preparation parameters and analyzes anti-aging properties in ARA modified asphalt, suggesting improved formulations.
To explore the rheological properties and anti-aging performance of Albanian rock asphalt (ARA) modified asphalt, the grey correlation entropy method was used to optimize the preparation process. The Multiple Stress Creep Recovery (MSCR) test and Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR) test were conducted. The performance indicators of ARA modified asphalt before and after the short-term and long-term aging simulation tests were compared to investigate the effects of different ARA contents on various performances under different aging conditions. The results show that the asphalt modified with ARA exhibits excellent high- and low-temperature properties. Grey correlation entropy analysis reveals that the order of the influence of each preparation parameter on the performance of ARA modified asphalt is as follows: shearing time > speed > temperature. The recommended key process parameters are: a shearing time of 40 - 50 min, a shearing speed of 4,000 - 4,500 r/min, and a shearing temperature of 160 - 170 °C. As the ARA content increases, the anti-aging performance of the modified asphalt gradually improves. Considering all factors, an ARA content of 15 - 20% is recommended.
