Seismic Analysis of Multi Storied Plan Irregular Building Using Shear wall and Bracing System

The performance of various lateral load-resisting systems in irregularly planned structures is examined in this study. The goal is to analyze the efficacy of bracing and shear walls in reducing lateral displacement and improving the structural behavior of plan irregular structures. The study considers a 15-storey conventional building model and compares it with various models incorporating bracing and shear walls at different locations. Through comprehensive analysis using the Response Spectrum Method, the study concludes that shear walls located at the edges and corners of plan irregular buildings exhibit the best results in minimizing lateral displacement. The models with shear walls demonstrate significant reductions in lateral displacement in both the X and Z directions compared to the bracing models. Furthermore, the study observes that the maximum storey drift is significantly reduced in models with bracing at the edges and shear wall at edges and corners compared to the conventional model. The base shear increases slightly in the shear wall models but remains lower than in the bracingmodels. Overall, the findings highlight the effectiveness of shear wall and bracing systems in controlling excessive storey drift and lateral displacement in irregularly planned constructions.
