Qualitative research reveals how a social music project impacts training for future educators, highlighting community extension's role.
This research explored the experiences of undergraduate and graduate music students who participated as collaborators in a social music project through internships or extension activities. The aim was to analyze how this teaching experience, from the perspective of student-teachers, could influence their professional and personal development. Using semi-structured interviews, the research revealed, through content analysis, the significance of the extension project in the training of these future music educators. The project provided spaces for meaningful reflections and experiences, contributing to both the professional and personal growth of those involved. By understanding the journey of these students, the importance of community extension programs becomes evident, highlighting their impact both externally and internally. Furthermore, the research broadens discussions on the inherent challenges of the music educator profession, offering valuable insights to improve academic training and professional practice in this specific field.
