Discussion highlights strategies for income generation and social relations in rural sectors for sustainable development.
The requalification of urban, rurban or rural sectors can be seen as a strategy for sustainable development, since it brings the challenge of remaking the existing city, reinventing it in an intelligent, innovative and inclusive way. Therefore, this article proposes a discussion on the importance of requalifying rural sectors considering local characteristics and income generation strategies, integrating residents and users, strengthening social relations and the sense of belonging. It adopts as its object of study the project of requalification of the Tourist Route in the rural area of Dois Irmãos/RS, a consolidated route that has facing challenges due to the lack of characterization and local appropriation. Thus, the article intends to provide subsidies for projects of requalification of rural sectors, suggesting the resignification of the place to enhance its development, promote local livelihoods, improve the quality of life and contribute to the production of sustainable cities.
