Discussion explores multifunctional linear parks' role in urban revitalization, highlighting sustainable development and social relations.
The requalification of urban sectors is a strategy for sustainable urban development, as it proposes the reinvention of the existing city, in an intelligent and inclusive way. By recovering consolidated urban sectors, the use of existing infrastructure, transport system and built stock is enhanced, boosting the use of the area and adapting it to current demands. Therefore, this article proposes a discussion on multifunctional linear parks as a strategy for requalifying urban sectors, considering local characteristics to strengthen social relations and the feeling of belonging to the place. It adopts as its object of study the project to requalify the surroundings of Arroio Pampa, located in the Canudos neighborhood, in Novo Hamburgo/RS. Thus, this article intends to provide subsidies for requalification projects in urban sectors, suggesting the redefinition of the place to enhance its development, improve the quality of life and contribute to the production of sustainable and inclusive cities.
