Discussion highlights urban resilience through floodable parks, suggesting strategies to handle flooding effectively.
Floodable parks are part of nature-based solutions (SBN), which are strategies to guarantee space and time for urban waters to gradually drain to rivers, streams and lakes, reducing the risk of flooding and flooding. Its importance was highlighted by the extreme climate events that occurred in southern Brazil in 2024. Therefore, this article seeks to discuss alternatives for maximizing soil drainage, especially in areas at risk of flooding, as a response to new climate challenges. It adopts as its object of study the project of a floodable park developed for the municipality of Feliz/RS, which includes multifunctional spaces that can be used by the population throughout the year. In this way, it intends to contribute to the debate on urban design solutions that aim to build resilience in cities in the face of the necessary confrontation with climate change and, thus, contribute to the production of sustainable cities.
