Research reveals how students use ChatGPT for homework, suggesting educational adjustments may be necessary.
In today's world, artificial intelligence is becoming increasingly popular, used by more people and in more fields. However, this process is creating a new problem for teachers, generating many questions: Should we rejoice and use it in education, or worry and prohibit its use? Do students use it to solve homework problems? Should homework be changed? In my article, I seek to answer these questions. First, I conducted research among university students to see how much they know, like, and use ChatGPT. Then, in my Algorithms and Data Structures course, I investigated how well students can solve homework using artificial intelligence. After that, I will present my changes, which were primarily aimed at preventing homework from being solved directly with ChatGPT. Finally, I examine the impact of my changes, based on students' opinions and performance.
