Kinetic analysis reveals activation energy stages in poplar wood pyrolysis, indicating potential for resource utilization.
To deeply investigate the chemical kinetic mechanisms during the thermochemical conversion of poplar wood and understand the kinetic characteristics of its rapid pyrolysis, this study aims to provide reference data for the resource utilization of poplar fast pyrolysis and the design of pyrolysis reactors. Through TG/DTG analysis, this paper conducted kinetic analysis of the laser-heated rapid pyrolysis process of poplar wood. The results indicate that the weight loss stage of poplar wood mainly occurs between 550 K and 960 K, with weight loss ranging from 43.6% to 57.9%. Under slow heating rates and weak interactions, the pyrolysis process of poplar wood powder demonstrates distinct stage-wise characteristics. The kinetic analysis of poplar laser-assisted fast pyrolysis revealed activation energy ranges of 14.03-102.49 kJ/mol across four heating rates (0.167-100K/s) using mechanism functions, and 119.15-241.74 kJ/mol via the distributed activation energy model with characteristic fluctuations, demonstrating kinetic compensation effects (ln(k 0 )=0.32E-20.58) and four distinct evolutionary stages.
