Simulation reveals ballistic properties of titanium alloy plates under high-speed impacts, indicating structural resilience.
Ballistic properties of a VT23 titanium alloy barrier under high-speed interaction with a conical impactor have been investigated by the computer simulation method. The gradient structure of the plate by thickness was taken into account in the model by the hardness parameter. The Lagrange grid method and the particle method were used. It is shown that the results of computer simulation of the collision of impactors and titanium alloy plates do not qualitatively contradict the experimental data of bench tests.
