Proposed method assesses impact strength of composite materials, indicating improvements over powder metallurgy techniques.
A method for assessing the impact strength of composite materials is proposed. The disadvantage of existing methods for determining impact strength is that fact when using them for materials manufactured by powder metallurgy methods, the result is distorted due to the use of additional devices. The proposed method includes the development of an additional structure that modifies an impact pendulum-type testing machine so that it allows testing composite materials of compact sizes. The values of the obtained impact strength and the microstructure of the samples before and after fracture are presented.
