Three studies analyzed psychometric properties of Serbian SPQ-BR in convenience samples, indicating strong validity and reliability.
The Schizotypal Personality Questionnaire - Brief Revised (SPQ-BR) is a widely used /instrument for schizotypy assessment. Three different studies were conducted to examine the psychometric properties of a Serbian SPQ-BR translation for the first time. In Study 1 (N = 218), a five-factor latent structure was detected, consisting of Suspiciousness and Emotional Detachment, Magical Thinking and Unusual Perceptual Experiences, Social Anxiety, Odd and Incoherent Speech, and Odd Behavior. Adequate convergent validity was demonstrated. In Study 2 (N = 775), the scale showed excellent internal consistency and satisfactory item-total correlations. Different factor models from the literature were validated, together with the solution from Study 1. A nine-factor single-order solution proved to be the most suitable, followed by a seven single-order model. Support was also gained for three and four higher-order models with seven subordinate factors and a five-factor solution. In Study 3 (N = 181), adequate construct validity and discriminatory power regarding heredity for psychopathology were demonstrated. Implications for further application of the scale were discussed.
