Assessment reveals that nickel-plated carbon nanotube fiber improves strength in reactive powder concrete, indicating potential for infrastructure enhancement.
The object of this manuscript aims to determine the physical and mechanical properties of the nickel‐plated multiwalled carbon nanotube fiber (Ni‐PM‐WCFNT)‐ and graphite nanoparticle (GNP)‐modified concrete/geopolymer composite, including slag (GGBFS), fly ash (FA), silica fume (SF), and metakaolin (MK), and polycarboxilate superplasticizer polymer film (PCSPF). Concrete/geopolymer composite samples, named RPC, RPGC, and RCGPC, are prepared with replacement of cement/geopolymer binder at 35%, 50%, and 90% in place of GGBFS, FA, SF, and MK, as well as reinforcing with Ni‐PM‐WCFNT, GNP, and PCSPF. Some features of the samples are tested at 7, 28, and 56 days. It can be concluded that the incorporation of 0.5–0.7 wt.% Ni‐PM‐WCFNT and 2.5 wt.% GNP decreases fluidity and porosity, while they increase the strength properties between 204% and 380%. The results also reveal the potential to facilitate the use of the Ni‐PM‐WCFNT‐ and GNP‐modified concrete in real‐world construction projects and infrastructure renewal.
