Program improves technical skills and cybersecurity awareness in vocational high school students, indicating better soft skills development.
Background: Program Kemitraan Masyarakat (PKM)) Proposed by the PKM lecturer team, this aims to improve the competence of SMK Pustek Serpong students in computer network and network security lab concepts and lab practices, as well as to facilitate hardware and software for practical activities. Method: The PKM activities and stages carried out focus on observation, administration, hardware and software instrumentation needs, Computer network and Network security Materials and Practices, and cyberattack implementation. This program serves as a follow-up to the proposal of the study program teaching team related to strengthening network security competency learning. Results: The results from activities, especially practicums, showed an increase in technical skills competency, specifically a 50% increase in understanding and implementing Cisco and MikroTik materials, and a 40% increase in the conceptual and practical aspects of Network security. As a form of practicum support, this PKM program also includes grants for HSDP Wireless devices, routers, and servers to support learning activities in SMK schools. Conclusion: The ability of students to implement materials and practices requires an understanding of server devices, routers, switches, and HSPA Wireless, as well as book knowledge in network infrastructure topology models. This PKM program also aligns learning materials with technological developments in the field by applying practical skills and developing soft skills tailored to the level of student qualifications, thereby improving competence in configuring Cisco and MikroTik devices.
