Simulation reveals nonlinear effects and intensity distribution in femtosecond laser filamentation, suggesting new optimization via lattice parameters.
The essence of the femtosecond laser filamentation and its supercontinuum spectral characteristics regulation is to change the laser pulse or adjust the transmission medium. However, most of the current filamentation and supercontinuum optimization control methods focus on the wavefront modulation of femtosecond laser, and relatively few studies have been conducted to regulate the filamentation by adjusting the transmission medium, and its deep physical mechanism has not yet been explained well. This paper systematically studies the physical mechanism of the change physical laws of the widening range of the supercontinuum spectrum of the transmission medium gas lattice with different parameters, such as changing the lattice length, period, refractive index depth, etc. Our simulation results show that nonlinear effects and spatial distribution of light intensity can be effectively regulated by changing the lattice parameters, which can support many related potential applications of filamentation supercontinuum.
