Experimental results demonstrate gas lattice-induced curved filaments and their effects on energy density and supercontinuum broadening.
The filaments are gradually being applied in many wide fields, and the curved filaments have also attracted a lot of attention. We have developed a new way to introduce gas lattice on the femtosecond laser pathway. And We demonstrate the energy flow density intensity and spatiotemporal optical intensity distribution at different positions generated by introducing gas lattices with different parameters. We also studied the evolution process of bent multi filaments under different refractive index change modulation depths and the characteristic changes of supercontinuum spectral broadening. Furthermore, the potential physical mechanisms underlying the generation and modulation of gas lattice induced curved multi-filaments and the supercontinuum spectral broadening are also discussed. Our numerical simulation results indicate that when a collapsed laser is coupled into a symmetrical lattice, the waveguide effect provided by the lattice medium with refractive index change becomes a crucial key in generating a continuous curved path. This method provided excellent solutions for potential filamentation applications.
