Randomized controlled trial finds P6 acupressure reduces intraoperative nausea and vomiting during cesarean delivery, suggesting its efficacy over sham treatment.
( Int J Obstet Anesth . 2024;60:104242 doi: 10.1016/j.ijoa.2024.104242) Intraoperative nausea and vomiting (IONV) and postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) are common complications during cesarean delivery (CD), affecting maternal comfort and increasing surgical risks. Despite existing pharmacological interventions, IONV persists, prompting interest in complementary therapies such as acupressure at the P6 (Neiguan) acupoint, which has shown benefit in reducing nausea and vomiting in some surgical settings. This study evaluated the effectiveness of P6 acupressure in IONV during CD under neuraxial anesthesia.
